EN

Beenie Man rightly proclaimed himself, King Of The Dancehall. Born Moses Davis in Kingston, Jamaica on August 1973, he is better know around the world as Beenie Man and he is the dancehall movement personified.

He was involved in the music industry from a young age, starting toasting at the age of five, and was encouraged by his uncle Sydney Wolfe, who played drums for Jimmy Cliff.  Releasing his first record, "Too Fancy" at the tender age of 7-years-old in 1981, Beenie has not only been at the forefront of the genre ever since, but has been largely responsible for growing it into the international phenomenon it is today.

Beenie Man had his first number one single in Jamaica in 1993 with "Matie", and he won the DJ of the Year Award the same year, the first of eight consecutive awards including the Grammy-nominated Many Moods Of Moses and it's single "Who Am I ?" in 1997 which stands among the best album of the genre.
