Although Junior Kelly blew up the Nu-Roots scene of Jamaican reggae in 2001, having a musical career was not his first aim.
He released many singles of quality in the 90s, but the consecration came in 1999 with his international hit "Love So Nice" (VP Records) on the riddim "Stir It Up" which remained thirteen consecutive weeks in the Jamaican charts and made him famous worldwide and acclaimed by the media as the millennium Roots’ Ambassador.
Collaborating with the best artists of dancehall, such as Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Luciano... he signed with major labels like VP Records or Jetstar and he released an avalanche of hits until 2005 like "Cannot Get Away", "Clean Heart", "One Love", "Jah Jah Live On", “Rasta Should Be Deeper", "Receive", "Blaze” or "Tough life ". It will take him 5 years to enter recording studio again and release the album "Red Pond" in 2010.
In late 2015 he released the album Urban Poet.

C’est presque malgré lui que Junior Kelly s’impose sur la scène Nu-Roots en 2001, alors que faire carrière dans la musique n'était absolument pas son premier objectif !
Après plusieurs singles de qualité dans les années 90, c’est en 1999 que sort son tube international « Love So Nice » (VP Records) sur le riddim « Stir It Up » qui restera treize semaines consécutives dans les charts jamaïcains et le fera connaître dans le monde entier, et grâce auquel les médias le consacrent Ambassadeur Roots du millénaire.
Il collabore alors avec les meilleurs artistes du dance hall comme Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Luciano et bien d’autres, et signe avec les plus grands labels tels que VP Records ou Jetstar. Sortent alors une avalanche de hits entre 2001 et 2005 comme "Can't Get Away", "Clean Heart", "One Love" ou "Jah Jah Live On”, “Rasta Should Be Deeper”, “Receive”, “Blaze”, “Tough life”. Il faudra alors attendre 5 ans pour que Junior Kelly retrouve le chemin des studios d’enregistrement et sorte l’album “Red Pond” en 2010.
En 2015, il sort l'album Urban Poet.
